Super rare Kalamazoo KG-11 „Senior“ 1933 from the Gibson factory - real Gibson sound for a fraction of the price!
Before Gibson bought Epiphone, there was Kalamazoo. Named after Gibson's hometown in Michigan, Kalamazoo was the brainchild of Gibson president Guy Hart, who needed a solution to keep Gibson in the musical instrument business during the Great Depression.
Kalamazoo brand musical instruments were marketed as „The World's Greatest Value“ and offered the quality of Gibson production at prices commensurate with the Great Depression. Most Kalamazoo instruments cost less than half the price of their Gibson cousins.
We've had many Gibson L-00s and a few Kalamazoo guitars too ... this one really is a gem ... light as a feather and with a quick response to the lightest touch it gives the impression that it plays itself. A fantastic attack combined with great dynamics makes this guitar an unbeatable vintage cannon. It impresses with the sound of old and matured wood - vintage fans can understand what we mean.
This Kalamazoo KG-11 „Senior“ 1933 guitar is in good condition for its age. It has the cool and rare Black Burst finish. It plays very nicely with a straight neck and low action (the neck has been reset).
One crack on the ceiling and 2 on the frames have been repaired.
It comes with a matching soft case.
