Washburn 1894 Parlor acoustic guitar - A real vintage treasure with character, history and outstanding vintage sound
The Washburn 1894 Parlor acoustic guitar is an exceptional historical instrument and a real gem for lovers of early American guitar making. This Parlor guitar dates from before 1900 and was built in the style of Martin Parlor guitars. With its fine woods, authentic vintage tone and excellent playability, it embodies everything you could wish for in a genuine old Parlor guitar.
George Lyon and Patrick Healy began building Washburn guitars as early as 1864. In the early years, the instruments were made entirely by hand and only produced in small quantities. Even when the company later grew and switched to series production, Washburn always placed great value on high-quality tonewoods and clean, precise workmanship. To this day, Washburn is one of the oldest and most traditional guitar manufacturers in the world.
This Washburn Parlor convinces with a very classic choice of wood. The top is made of fine spruce, while the back and sides are made of beautifully grained rosewood. The cedar neck has a light, comfortable V-profile with a nut width of 46 mm, which sits comfortably in the hand. The fingerboard and bridge are made of ebony and underline the high-quality character of this instrument.
In terms of sound, this guitar is a real joy. It has authentic vintage mojo that you can feel as soon as you pick it up. When fingerpicked, it responds very directly, clearly and dynamically, while it develops an amazingly full, warm tone when flatpicked. The sound is dry, woody and extremely musical - exactly the sound that many players are looking for in an old Parlor guitar.
The guitar has been professionally restored. Several cracks were professionally repaired, the neck was given a neck reset and the bridge was renewed. The result is excellent playability with a very good, comfortable string action. Technically, the guitar is in excellent playing condition and has of course been checked by our luthier.
The scope of delivery includes the original case, a certificate of appraisal and a CITES certificate. This means that the guitar is not only musically, but also documentarily well positioned.
This Washburn 1894 Parlor acoustic guitar is not a museum piece, but a living vintage instrument with history, soul and character - perfect for players, collectors and anyone who appreciates the special sound of early acoustic guitars.
