Martin 0-28 Ian Anderson Acoustic Guitar - Limited Signature Guitar (No. 7 of 87) with exceptional concept and mature sound

The Martin 0-28 Ian Anderson acoustic guitar is one of the most extraordinary signature models that C. F. Martin has ever built. It combines traditional craftsmanship, innovative technology and a close musical connection to Ian Anderson, the legendary frontman of Jethro Tull. Only 87 examples of this model were made worldwide - a clear argument for collectors, but also a highly musical guitar for discerning players.

This guitar is nicknamed „The Chameleon“ - and for good reason. Thanks to a clever, interchangeable saddle system, the instrument can be played with both steel and nylon strings. A white saddle is intonated for steel strings, a black saddle for nylon strings. The change is uncomplicated and makes it possible to serve two completely different sound worlds with just one guitar. This idea was the basic premise of Ian Anderson, who played small Martin models for decades and appreciated their versatility.

The Martin 0-28 Ian Anderson acoustic guitar is based on the historic 0-body with 12 frets to the body, a design known for its clear, focused and surprisingly powerful sound development. The small body delivers a mature, well-balanced tone that is ideal for both fingerstyle and vocal accompaniment.

Martin remained true to tradition with the tonewoods and at the same time focused on the highest quality. The back and sides are made of high-quality East Indian rosewood, the top of fine spruce. This is supported by 1/4-inch spruce bracing and ensures a full, resonant sound with depth, clarity and dynamics. The neck is made of mahogany and has a modern, modified V-profile with comfortable playability.

Visually, this guitar is a real work of art. The top is edged with fine Heringbone inlays, the back features elegant wood inlays with zigzag center stripes in the HD-28 style. The unique rosette is particularly striking: a star pattern of triangular mother-of-pearl inlays on a black background that gives this model an unmistakable identity. The African ebony fingerboard is fitted with Martin's Snowflake inlays. The fingerboard is complemented by the inlaid signature of Ian Anderson.

Another highlight is the specially developed ebony pyramid bridge with triangular saddle slot, which enables quick changes between nylon and steel strings without affecting the intonation or the built-in pickup. A non-invasive Fishman/Martin Gold+Plus Natural I pickup system is installed ex works, which works reliably with both nylon and steel strings and makes the guitar suitable for the stage.

In terms of sound, this guitar impresses with its enormous versatility. It reacts sensitively, sounds open and balanced and develops astonishing depth and projection for a small body. The sound is mature, differentiated and musical - an instrument that holds its own both in the studio and on stage.
The guitar is from 2004 and is in very good condition and has been treated with great care. The neck is straight and the action is fantastically low. The nut width is a comfortable 48 mm.

Each Martin 0-28 Ian Anderson acoustic guitar is numbered and bears an inside label with the original signatures of Ian Anderson and C. F. Martin IV. It is delivered in a high-quality Geib™-style hardshell case.

A rare, innovative and musically top-class instrument - just as exciting for collectors as for players looking for a special guitar with character, history and an unusual concept.
