José Yacopi 1955 classical guitar - an exceptional classical guitar with a unique bracing system, exquisite tonewoods and a fascinating sound.

José Yacopi (December 28, 1916, Victoria, Spain - August 11, 2006, San Fernando, Argentina) was an outstanding guitar maker whose craftsmanship had a lasting impact on the world of guitar making. He learned the craft from his father, Gamaliel Yacopi, and won major awards at the age of 27 - including first place at the Concurso Provincial de Artesanía in Barcelona and later at the Concurso Nacional de Oficios Artesanos in Madrid. His innovative approaches to sound optimization brought him further recognition at competitions in London and Argentina and cemented his reputation as a pioneer in this field.

In 1947, Yacopi and his father developed an ingenious bracing system that became known as the „inverted fan system“. This design, which was later patented, reinforces the top and significantly improves the tonal response of the guitar. This revolutionary design became the trademark of Yacopi guitars and gave them their characteristic, powerful sound quality. In 1949, he and his wife Pilar Pérez-Menchaca moved to General Villegas before settling in San Fernando, Argentina in 1951, where Yacopi remained active for the rest of his life. Although he made a variety of stringed instruments, he devoted himself primarily to making Spanish guitars, combining the traditions of the Barcelona school with his own groundbreaking innovations.

Numerous world-famous musicians have appreciated his instruments, including María Luisa Anido, Julian Bream, Eric Clapton, Irma Costanzo, Eduardo Falú, Edmundo Rivero and Narciso Yepes.
