Manuel Ramirez ~1910 Classical guitar - high-quality master guitar with impressive sound and significant history!
This fine guitar dates from the same period as Segovia's famous Manuel Ramirez guitar.
The workshop of Manuel Ramirez is undoubtedly the most important workshop for classical guitars of the early turn of the century, the post-Torres era of guitar making. Manuel Ramirez (1864-1916) worked to ensure the survival of the „Torres“ design into the 20th century (and beyond). With his vision and determination, coupled with a workshop made up of the best luthiers of the time (including Santos Hernandez, Domingo Esteso, Modesto Borreguero, Pascual Viudes and most likely Enrique Garcia), he successfully crafted great guitars that secured the Torres legacy for all future generations of luthiers.
This particular Manuel Ramirez ~1910 classical guitar is a perfect example of the style and sound that had such an impact on his listeners and players.
This Manuel Ramirez ~1910 was built around the same time as Segovia's famous and iconic Manuel Ramirez from 1912 (which is now on display together with Segovia's Hauser I from 1937 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City). The scale length is 635 mm and the nut width 48 mm. It has a spruce top and maple back and sides. The string action is 3.2 mm E and 2.8 mm e at the 12th fret, whereby the bridge inlay still offers some leeway.
This is a superb and extremely good sounding guitar from the workshop of Manuel Ramirez. Manuel Ramirez's workshop was known as the best workshop at the turn of the century - this guitar is a great example of the quality they produced - it is simply exquisite in its sound quality. While each note is rich in overtones, it maintains an almost unbelievable level of separation and clarity between the notes. Due to its ultra-lightweight construction, tone production is immediate, with a wide range of sound modulation and dynamics. This guitar also has great power, which immediately disproves any rumor that old guitars don't have much sound!
This Manuel Ramirez ~1910 classical guitar is in extremely good condition for its age. It is original and only has a very small crack on the top, which has been repaired. It comes with the original case.
