Description

Gerhard Oldiges 2001 – excellent classical guitar in the style of a Torres with elements of Hauser!

Gerhard Oldiges started building guitars during his studies at the end of the seventies and completed a two-year apprenticeship as a guitar maker after graduating. Afterwards he first worked in a guitar repair shop and in 1988 took a guitar building course with José Romanillos, with whom he was friends and whose courses he has attended regularly since 1996. Gerhard Oldiges is intensively involved with the history of Spanish guitar making. Thus, a special focus of his work is the reproduction of old Spanish master instruments by Antonio de Torres, Vicente Arias, Manuel Ramírez and others.

Inspired by the guitars of Hermann Hauser I and Antonio de Torres, this instrument is a true masterpiece. The guitar has a fine spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides. The scale length is 650 mm and the nut width is 53 mm.
Julian Bream decided on a similar Oldiges many years ago after finding that the weight, feel, shape of the neck and strings felt almost identical to his 1940 Hauser. Bream also liked the sound quality, the balance in the Hauser style and the volume of the guitar as much as his Hauser, which is quite remarkable and speaks for the guitars of Gerhard Oldiges.

The sound of this guitar combines the best of both styles (Hauser and Torres) in a very interesting way. The guitar has well defined notes with great balance and separation and at the same time is loose, warm and dark in sound.
The range of tones, textures and colours you get with this instrument is simply breathtaking.
In addition, the guitar is easy to play and well suited for longer playing sessions.
Furthermore, the design of the decorations underlines the class and elegance of this instrument.

With only a few signs of play and use, this charming instrument is in very good condition.

This guitar is a real gem for players who are looking for modern features such as a powerful sound and excellent playability, but do not want to miss out on a traditional sound character.
