In 2019 on a trip to Spain we happened to discover the shop and the guitars of Juan Fernandez Utrera.
We were immediately thrilled, because such magnificent sounding guitars can only be found in the price range of 5000€+++ .
That’s why we decided to include Utrera guitars in our program. We are happy to present these very good sounding guitar.
Juan Fernandez Utrera is still a relatively young guitar builder from Granada. His construction is based on the guitar builders of Granada and his guitars can compete with the best Spanish guitars.
The guitar is very light and has a spruce top and beautiful rosewood back and sides.
The scale length is 664 mm and the nut width 52 mm. It has a cutaway and plays extremly well all the way down the neck.
The sound is furious – the guitar reacts absolutely fast and has a sharp flamenco tone, which immediately excites and thrills you.
It has beautiful basses and is nevertheless a very balanced instrument. The tone is a perfect blend of beauty and true flamenco aggressiveness. If massaged by the player, it sings with a sweet voice that is warm and full, but if pushed, even just a little – it awakens with a powerful bark that only the best flamenco guitars can produce.
