Description

Juan Estruch 1971 “Simplicio” – rare and very beautiful guitar from Barcelona. Built as a tribute to Francisco Simplicio, this guitar is very special in sound and appearance.

Juan Estruch is one of the venerable guitar makers in Spain. Among musicians, guitars like these from the “yellow label” era are very well known. They have a deep and rich sound and are appreciated by musicians and collectors alike.
They are also famous because of Chet Atkins. When asked shortly before his death which of his hundreds of guitars he preferred to play, he chose his 1964 Juan Estruch without hesitation. In fact, this was the guitar Atkins played daily and on which he made many of his “basement recordings” that were found after his death.

Like the famous Atkins guitar, this is a master grade guitar with a yellow label. It has beautiful rosette inlays. Rosewood back and sides and a spruce top. 650 mm scale length and 53 mm nut width.
Estruch built this guitar as a tribute to the famous luthier Francisco Simplico. In terms of sound and appearance, it is very close to Simplicio’s guitars, making it an absolute rarity as a custom model.

This guitar has a wonderful vintage sound, with lyrical highs and a dark, characterful and almost mystical sound quality.
It has a really impressive sound with great depth in every note across the entire register, with a great bass and lyrical highs. The tone is also strong and lively, giving the guitar great charm and personality. A fantastic historic guitar with license to enchant!

It is in good condition, with only one professionally repaired crack and minor signs of play and use.

It comes in a fitting guitar case.
