Description

Georg Tiefenbrunner ~1890 outstanding guitar from the famous and award-winning workshop. An outstanding southern German romantic guitar – we fell in love with it immediately!

Georg Tiefenbrunner is an outstanding name in guitar, violin and zither making. He has made a great name for himself through outstanding craftsmanship and was, among others, purveyor to the court of Duke Maximilian of Bavaria and Crown Princess Alexandra of England.
His instruments won prizes at exhibitions in London, Munich, Paris, Philadelphia, Nuremberg, Sidney, Amsterdam and Boston.
Tiefenbrunner also received the great golden medal of honour for special services from Duke Maximilian of Bavaria.

This romantic guitar from around ~1890 is a splendid example of Tiefenbrunner’s craftsmanship.
The guitar has a fine spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides. His woods are of first-class quality and rosewood was a rarity in Europe at that time. This wood was only used on the best instruments of the time.
The scale length of the guitar is 615 mm and the nut width 44 mm. Elaborate ornamental work adorns this guitar all around.

The sound of the guitar is an absolute pleasure … there are guitars like this, with which you immediately feel an inner connection and which you quickly take to your heart. That is exactly the case with this guitar.
The sound is very touching and this guitar awakens deep emotions. The basses are round and precise, with a very special and enchanting quality. The singing and crystalline trebles offer a fantastic range of timbres.
The sound of the guitar is fine and delicate, yet one is amazed at how loud it can get and the volume it unfolds despite the relatively small body. Definitely a romantic guitar on a very high level.

The guitar has been repaired over the years and was restored not too long ago.It is in a very stable and excellently playable condition, with a low action and a straight neck.
