Manuel Reyes 1955 Flamenco Guitar – A Rare Masterpiece from the Early time of Spain’s Greatest Flamenco Builder
A truly exceptional opportunity — this Manuel Reyes 1955 Flamenco Guitar is an early and extremely rare example of the work of Spain’s most revered flamenco guitar maker. Manuel Reyes (1934–2014) is regarded as one of the greatest luthiers in the history of flamenco guitar building. His reputation was so significant that Luis F. Leal Pinar dedicated an entire chapter to him in Guitarreros de Andalucía (2004).
Reyes built only about 20 guitars per year, focusing entirely on quality, precision, and traditional craftsmanship. Due to overwhelming demand, he stopped accepting new orders more than two decades before his passing. Since then, the desirability and collectability of his instruments have only increased — making early examples like this one extraordinarily rare.
This Manuel Reyes 1955 Flamenco Guitar delivers everything that made Reyes legendary. The sound is unmistakably flamenco:
-
Fierce, sharp, and percussive rasgueados
-
Sweet and lyrical trebles when played softly
-
A deep, throaty growl that responds beautifully to expressive playing
-
Fast, explosive attack with excellent projection
This is the type of sound heard on recordings by the great flamenco masters — an inspiring tone that instantly captivates the player.
The guitar is perfectly adjusted, with a low action and a straight neck, offering the effortless response that flamenco players seek.

The Manuel Reyes 1955 Flamenco Guitar is far more than an instrument — it is a piece of Spanish guitar-making history from one of the world’s most sought-after luthiers. Rarely do guitars from this era come to market, especially in such beautifully preserved condition.
The guitar comes with a good hard case.
