Rene Baarslag 2000 Classical Guitar – A Warm Sounding and Expressive Masterpiece from Granada

This Rene Baarslag 2000 Classical Guitar is a fine example of traditional Spanish guitar making, offering warmth, depth, and expressive power for discerning players.

René Baarslag, born in Heerlen, Holland in 1948, began his journey as a classical guitarist before discovering his passion for lutherie in Granada in the late 1970s. He apprenticed with Antonio Marín Montero and also studied with the legendary French master Robert Bouchet. Since then, Baarslag has established himself in Granada, where he and his wife Ana Rodríguez continue to handcraft instruments that combine the best of Granada tradition with influences from the early Madrid school. His guitars are renowned worldwide for their balance, warmth, and superb craftsmanship.

This Rene Baarslag 2000 Classical Guitar features a beautiful spruce top with rosewood back and sides, offering a mature and deeply resonant sound. The tone is warm, dark, and open, with excellent projection—perfect for both concert halls and recording studios. The guitar plays effortlessly, with a scale length of 650 mm, a nut width of 52 mm, and a comfortable action at the 12th fret of 3.4 mm on the bass side and 2.8 mm on the treble side.
