Description
Fratelli Rovetta 1880 Romantic Guitar – very high quality and exceptionally good sounding handmade guitar!
Behind the name Fratelli Rovetta stands a family of guitar and violin makers from Bergamo, Italy.
Antonio Rovetta is the founder of the Rovetta shop. He lived from 1840 to 1884 and built violins in the style of the famous old masters from Cremona. His work is highly praised by experts. Some of his guitars have survived to this day, and their appearance and construction are reminiscent of the guitars made by Genaro Fabricatore.
Antonio Rovetta taught his sons the art of instrument making, and they later renamed the shop Fratelli Rovetta (Rovetta Brothers).
Their instruments are treasured because they are built to a very high standard of craftsmanship.
This Fratelli Rovetta 1880 Romantic Guitar can be dated to around ~1880, when the brothers took over the shop from their father. It is a fine example of the Rovetta brother’s excellent craftsmanship. The guitar has a fine spruce top and maple back and sides. The woods are of first class quality. The scale length of the guitar is 635 mm and the nut width is 46 mm. It plays great with a low action (3.3 mm E and 2.7 mm e at the 12th fret) and a straight neck.
The sound of this Fratelli Rovetta 1880 Romantic Guitar is an absolute pleasure … there are guitars like this with which you immediately feel an inner connection and which you quickly take to your heart. That is exactly the case with this guitar.
The sound is very touching and this guitar awakens deep emotions. The basses are round and precise, with a very special and enchanting quality. The singing and crystalline trebles offer a fantastic range of timbres.
The sound of the guitar is also fine and delicate, yet one is amazed at how loud it can get and the volume it unfolds. Definitely a romantic guitar on a very high level.
