Johann Georg Stauffer, born in 1778 in Vienna and deceased there in 1853, is a significant figure in guitar making, particularly known as the most renowned Viennese guitar maker. He originally learned his craft with Franz Geissenhof and was inspired by the Italian masters Gaetano Vinaccia and Giovanni Battista Fabricatore.
