Sergio Sanchez’s passion for guitars began at a very young age. He took lessons from Tomas Lucero and Oscar Giunta and began a career as a classical guitarist.
However, this career was interrupted when he lost a finger on his left hand in an accident. After this tragic event, Sergio Sanchez dedicated himself to building guitars in order to remain true to his passion.
He first visited the guitar makers’ workshops in Granada and learned first from Manuel Villafranca and then from Juan Miguel Carmona. He later opened his own workshop in Almeria, the birthplace and home of Antonio de Torres and the modern Spanish guitar.
As a musician, he has a very unique approach to guitar making, which has sensitized him to the needs of the guitarist and made him very demanding, not only in terms of manufacturing, but also in terms of the choice of materials, humidity conditions, storage and building temperatures. All of his instruments are lovingly handcrafted, which means that they are of an extremely high standard in terms of sound and playability.
This particular guitar is incredibly lightweight, featuring a spruce top complemented by exquisite rosewood back and sides. With a scale length of 650 mm and a nut width of 51 mm, it offers exceptional playability along the entire neck, with low flamenco action of 2.7 mm E and 2.2 mm e at the 12th fret. The tuners are high-end Wittner fine tuning pegs that allow the player to tune the guitar easily, quickly and very precisely.
