Description
Juan Estruch 1978 Classical Guitar – Gran Concertio yellow label – very nice classical guitar, similar to Chat Atkins guitar!
Juan Estruch is renowned as one of Spain’s esteemed luthiers, celebrated for his exceptional craftsmanship. Among musicians, guitars from his “yellow label” period, like this stunning instrument, are highly regarded for their deep and rich tonal qualities, making them favorites among both players and collectors alike.
Famed guitarist Chet Atkins famously acknowledged the significance of Estruch’s work. When asked shortly before his passing which of his many guitars he cherished most, he chose his 1964 Juan Estruch without hesitation. This very guitar was his daily companion and the instrument on which he created many of his “basement recordings,” which were discovered posthumously.
Like Atkins’ treasured instrument, this guitar is a masterfully crafted yellow-label model. It features exquisite rosette inlays, a stunning rosewood back and sides, and a cedar top. With a scale length of 650 mm and a nut width of 54 mm, it offers both comfort and playability. The action is low at E 3.5 mm and e 2.8 mm at the 12th fret.
The sound produced by this guitar is nothing short of extraordinary, embodying the fullness, robustness, and depth that guitarists yearn for. Its tone is rich yet clear, exuding a warm, mysterious, and moody character. The layers of overtones are beautifully controlled and balanced, resting atop a crystal-clear fundamental pitch. This guitar possesses an almost cathedral-like presence, providing the power and resonance needed for any concert hall. It truly stands as a remarkable “concert grand” among guitars.
This Juan Estruch 1978 Classical Guitar is in great condition and doesn’t show cracks or repairs, though it does carry the gentle wear of a well-loved instrument that has been played over the years. It comes with the original case.
