Pena Vargas 2015 flamenco guitar model “Malaguena” – stunning sounding handmade instrument
This remarkable flamenco guitar was crafted in 2015 by the talented luthier Peña Vargas, who has quickly gained recognition within the Spanish guitar-making community. Vargas has established himself as one of the most important emerging instrument builders, offering exceptional quality at a highly competitive price. It is no surprise that artists such as Diego del Morao, José Gálvez, Niño Jero, Diego Carrasco, Antonio Rey, Román Miroshnichenko, Manuel Valencia, and Pepe del Morao trust his guitars for their performances.
The “Malaguena” is crafted from carefully selected woods. The top is made of alpine spruce, showcasing a straight and even grain across its surface, while the Indian rosewood used for the back and sides displays stunning patterns. The guitar features a nut width of 52 mm and a scale length of 655 mm.
This instrument produces a strong and authoritative tone with an exceptional balance between singing highs and deep basses. It boasts an impressive dynamic range and offers perfect playability. The sound is rich yet clear, imbued with a warm, mysterious, and atmospheric quality. The tonal complexity consists of controlled and balanced layers of harmonics that sit atop a crystal-clear fundamental tone.
With a near-cathedral presence, this guitar possesses the power to resonate beautifully in any concert hall. It can easily compete with instruments priced two to three times higher.
The condition of the guitar is very good, with only minimal signs of use. The action is optimally set at 2.8 mm for the low E string and 2.3 mm for the high e string at the 12th fret.
This exquisite instrument comes complete with a new guitar case, ensuring its protection and easy transport.
