Pedro Maldonado 1975 Paco de Lucia Flamenco Guitar – A Flamenca Blanca built for Paco de Lucía – Extremely Rare & Collectible

This extraordinary 1975 flamenco guitar by Pedro Maldonado Sr. is a true rarity and a remarkable piece of flamenco history—it was built for none other than Paco de Lucía, as confirmed by the dedication on the label. While Paco de Lucía is best known for playing his iconic Conde guitars on stage, he owned and appreciated instruments from several esteemed luthiers, including this outstanding guitar by Pedro Maldonado. A guitar of exceptional craftsmanship and provenance, it represents the pure essence of the Andalusian flamenco tradition.

Pedro Maldonado, born in 1929 in Loja (Granada), trained under some of the finest luthiers of the renowned “Escuela Granadina,” including Manuel de la Chica, Eduardo Ferrer, and Antonio Robles. Establishing his own workshop in 1959, he quickly gained international recognition, receiving commissions from celebrated musicians and prestigious dealers such as Casa Damas in Seville. His deep understanding of flamenco music and dedication to excellence resulted in instruments that are revered by both players and collectors worldwide.

This magnificent Pedro Maldonado 1975 Paco de Lucia flamenco guitar features a cedar top paired with cypress back and sides, delivering an explosive response, powerful projection, and an incredibly well-balanced sound. As expected from a high-end Maldonado, the tone is rich and full of character, with deep, punchy basses, warm, resonant mids, and crystal-clear trebles. The signature flamenco growl, paired with its percussive bite, makes this instrument a joy to play. Despite its 670 mm scale length and 54 mm nut width, it remains highly comfortable in the hands, with the extended scale enhancing its dynamic range and immense volume.

This Pedro Maldonado 1975 Paco de Lucia flamenco guitar is in good condition, with some cracks that have developed over time and have been repaired. Expertly set up, it features low action (2.6 mm E and 2.0 mm e at the 12th fret) and a perfectly straight neck, ensuring effortless playability. The guitar comes with its original hard case.

A truly exceptional instrument with significant historical value, this Pedro Maldonado Sr. guitar is a rare opportunity for serious players and collectors seeking an authentic, world-class flamenco guitar.
