Heikki Rousu 11-string 2023 – unique and rare classical guitar inspired by the legendary Bolin Alto Guitar
This exceptional 11-string guitar was crafted by renowned Swedish luthier Heikki Rousu, who has built over 300 instruments since 1990. Inspired by the legendary Bolin Alto Guitar, developed in the 1960s by Georg Bolin and popularized by guitarists such as Per-Olof Johnson and Göran Söllscher, this instrument combines masterful craftsmanship with innovative design.
With eleven strings, this guitar expands the tonal range far beyond that of a traditional 6-string guitar. Designed specifically for the interpretation of lute music using classical guitar techniques, it introduces exciting new musical possibilities through its extended tuning – g d a f c G F Eb D C B. Tuned a third higher than a standard guitar, it delivers a uniquely resonant and colorful sound, making it an outstanding choice for the intricate and expressive works of Johann Sebastian Bach and Sylvius Leopold Weiss.
The combination of a spruce top and rosewood back and sides ensures a perfect balance of clarity, warmth, and powerful projection. The 760/570 mm scale length and 95 mm nut width provide excellent playability for complex techniques. Premium Schaller Grand Tune tuners guarantee precise and stable tuning, while the Knobloch EDC 34.0 strings enhance the rich tonal character of this remarkable instrument.
This guitar is a true fusion of tradition and innovation, offering guitarists a unique opportunity to explore new sonic landscapes. It comes with the original hard case for optimal protection.
