Description

This Gibson Southern Jumbo from 1954 combines timeless elegance, exceptional craftsmanship, and an unparalleled sound that has inspired generations of musicians.

Gibson, one of the world’s most prestigious guitar manufacturers, was founded in 1902 and has created numerous iconic models. Introduced in 1942, the Southern Jumbo was considered one of Gibson’s most luxurious acoustic guitars. It has been played by legendary musicians like Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie and remains a favorite among collectors and players today.

This outstanding 1954 Southern Jumbo delivers the warm, rich tone that Gibson is renowned for. Its deep bass, clear mids, and sparkling highs create a balanced sound perfect for singer-songwriters, bluegrass, and folk musicians alike.

With comfortable string action at the 12th fret (E-string 2.3 mm, e-string 1.7 mm) and a nut width of 43 mm, this guitar offers a smooth and effortless playing experience.

Crafted from premium materials, it features a fine spruce top for a robust tone, mahogany back and sides for warm resonance, and a rosewood fingerboard for durability and excellent playability.

This instrument is in great vintage condition, especially for its age. It shows heavy playwear from finger picks, adding to its authentic vintage character. It has no cracks or breaks, which is remarkable for an instrument of this era. The bridge, bridgeplate, tuners, and pickguard have been replaced. All other components and the finish are original. The guitar comes with a vintage TKL hardshell case, the type Gibson used in the 1960s.

The Gibson Southern Jumbo 1954 is a true player’s and collector’s guitar, offering the unique tone, history, and charm of a vintage instrument.
